100 Random Things About Me:

1. I am NOT a night owl…..I prefer to get up early.
2. I can fall asleep in seconds!! Once my head hits the pillow, I’m out!!
3. I LOVE hot showers. Not warm, not cold, HOT!! Nice, long, hot showers!!
4. I have worn glasses since I was 2. (NOT FUN!!) There was one year in grade school (4th grade, I think) that I didn’t have to wear glasses…..how pathetic is that?
5. I HATE going to the bathroom.
6. I don’t like water. I LOVE to drink water, and I love to play in water, but I HATE getting my face wet, and I don’t really like swimming..…you get your face wet. Tubing is totally different……only your bottom has to get wet. (But I have found, that I don’t mind it as much if I have a life jacket….I won’t drown that way. I’m not a swimmer!)
7. I am not a test taker. I hate test. I detest tests. Who ever came up with the idea that we need to take tests, is seriously disturbed.
8. I hate being compared to people! (Especially to my sisters…..they are way better than I am, and I don’t need reminding!!) I am me, and you are you. Can’t we just leave it at that??
9. I love schedules, lists, menus, and structure. I don’t do well when plans change or when things don’t go the way they are supposed to. I used to be spontaneous, but am far from now. Life is too hectic for spontaneity.
10. My right foot always falls asleep….never the left…..always the right.
11. I was hit by a car when I was 10, and somehow walked away with only 7 stitches….in my lip of all places.
12. I’ve never had the chicken pox. My entire family got them when I was 2 weeks old, and I didn’t get them. Doctors say I have an 80% chance of never getting them because I’ve built up an immunity to them…..I guess we’ll see.
13. I suffer some mild anxiety. I also have an adrenalin imbalance…which means, my body doesn’t relax……ever.
14. I’m the 13th of 15 children. (Windy, David, George, Curtis, Ben, Lynn, Jared D., Jared A, Michael, Katy, Rochelle, Tracy, Melinda, Christopher, and Jenny.)
15. I was the first child my mom got to name. (My biological father named all of my older siblings.) Hence, I was named after my mom: Melinda Ann named after Linda Ann. Pretty cool, huh?
16. I love to cook. I am by no means a good cook, but I really enjoy it. I wish I had more time to cook, though. Someday, I want to have a huge gourmet kitchen. Wouldn’t that be cool?
17. I miss playing the piano. I am again, by no means good, but I really miss it. I also played the violin, and I miss that too. (Don’t tell my mom that…she didn’t want me to quit in the first place!)
18. I always wanted a nickname. My older brothers called me Mel, and I HATE it. Please don’t ever call me that! In college, a co-worker called me Mindy, and people actually still do. (Not a lot by the way, just randomly. Maybe I should go by Mindy?)
19. I am always afraid that people are judging me and don’t like me.
20. I love to organize things. Pathetic, perhaps, but I love it. And, I love making everything look perfect. I love to fold the laundry perfectly. I don’t have a lot of time, so looking at my house now, you wouldn’t know that. Organizing right takes A LOT of time!
21. I HATE peas and tomatoes. Plus, I hate seafood….it’s so fishy.
22. The smoke detectors in my house will go off if you use the toaster. I don’t know why…they just do. Stupid temperamental thing.
23. I have been bungee jumping, and would do it again. It’s quite the rush!!
24. I love to hike, rock climb, repel, camp, cave, etc. I like to be outdoors, just remember the sunscreen!!
25. I nearly drowned when I was 7, and nearly fell off of a cliff when I was 5. Thank goodness for siblings. They’ve saved my life more than once!!
26. When I was a kid, we sold corn in the summer in our front yard for money to buy things for school.
27. I saw the Olympic Torch being run through Ephraim, Utah by a little old lady when I was a freshman in college. (Salt Lake City Winter Olympics 2002!!)
28. I clogged when I was in second grade.
29. I used to wear dresses everyday in Kindergarten, and now can’t stand them.
30. When I was little (under 5 or so) if I got my clothes wet, I would have to change. I couldn’t stand being “wet”. That doesn’t even make sense!! (Please, do not make fun of this. My family still makes fun of me for it, and I don’t think that I could handle anyone else making fun of my stupid behavior.)
31. I punched a kid in the nose when I was in 5th grade because he was teasing my little brother. I didn’t get in trouble either.
32. Spring is my favorite time of year! It starts warming up, the sun starts shining, things start growing and turning green again, and the spring colors come back into style! I love pastel colors!!
33. I don’t like playing games because I get competitive. Plus, I am a poor sport, and if I lose, I feel stupid. So…..it’s just easier to avoid playing games. (One of my MANY flaws that I am not proud of, so again, please don’t make fun of it!)
34. I am a logical thinker, who probably over analysis’s everything. Everything must have a reason. Everything must be done in a specific order. Everything must be thought out and proven to be the best possible answer. No wonder it takes me so long to make a decision!
35. I hate sandwiches and cereal, but I still eat cereal almost everyday (I’m too lazy to wake up any earlier to make breakfast!) I like HOT foods….nothing cold! Weird, I know. It’s just a fact.
36. I love living in Missouri. I miss my family, of course, but I love it here. (Except for the humidity…that’s something that I am still trying to get used to!)
37. I loved mowing the lawn as a kid.
38. I have helped remodel my parent’s house, and roof our garage. I like to build things…..and to participate in demolition.
39. I recently have picked up a stutter…..my brain thinks faster than my mouth can work. I never stuttered as a kid, but I do once in a while now.
40. I like going to the lake in Missouri. It is very different than going to the lake in Utah. In the summer time, Missouri lakes get WARM…...in Utah the water is ALWAYS cold!!
41. I love waterfalls!
42. I like to go out to the movies. But, there haven’t been very many movies worth going to lately.
43. I love the forest.
44. I love the sunshine!! Just sitting outside, soaking up the sun…what could be better?
45. I worked on my Grandpa’s farm herding, branding, and feeding cows, moving sprinkler lines, digging postholes and putting up fences, digging trenches, and hauling hay. Etc. etc. I have NO desire to EVER work on a farm again.
45. I love to grow plants, but for the life of me, I can’t keep them alive. How sad is that?
46. I love cheese and French fries!
47. I don’t like casseroles. I think that the idea of dumping a bunch of stuff together and cooking it in the same pan is disgusting.
48. I hate knowing that I waste a lot of time, but I don’t know what to do about it.
49. I hated reading as a kid, but now rather enjoy it. Anyone have any suggestions of some good books?
50. I collect children’s books. I LOVE children’s books!
51. I love taking pictures, and always wanted to be a photographer. Again, I am by no means good….so that dream has diminished rapidly.
52. I miss school! I am glad that it is over, don’t get me wrong, but I really miss it. And, I am considering going back to school.
53. I think that family-get-togethers are interesting. So many people crammed in a small space, and all talking loudly. I grew up with a big family and always having people around, but I have a hard time with too many people.
54. I have a big personal space bubble. I can’t stand when people get to close. And, I don’t really like being touched….especially by people I hardly now. I don’t like touchy people…they creep me out.
55. I have been to Europe!
56. One of my favorite memories growing up as a kid where having tin foiled dinners, or roasting hotdogs at my grandpa’s house in the snow.
57. I am terrified of dying! I don’t want to get old. I don’t want to go crazy. And, I don’t want to be alone. I am scared to death of dying. It literally terrifies me!
58. I don’t really like desserts.
59. I was born and raised in Utah. We lived in the same house in Payson from the time I was 2, until I went to college. I didn’t move out of Utah until I got married.
60. My parent’s got divorced when I was about 2. My mom remarried just after my 3rd birthday. My step-dad is my “dad” and will always be referred to him as such. I don’t know my biological father, and actually have no desire to do so.
61. My favorite color varies from day to day. I tend to like the pastel colors, though. They are such happy colors.
62. I am very self-conscious, and I hate it! I always worry about what everyone thinks about me, and it makes me paranoid.
63. I am always cold! My feet are always FREEZING, and I can never seem to get warm.
64. I love having freshly brushed teeth! Nothing is better than a clean mouth!
65. I love working with the young women in our ward! There, in my opinion, is no better calling!
66. I can sew…..very poorly….and own a sewing machine.
67. I never wanted to go to a church school, but ended up going to BYU-Idaho and loving it.
68. I enjoy shopping! I prefer it when I have money, though.
69. There is nothing all that interesting about me. I am a boring person. I have no special talents. I do nothing well. I am not at all interesting to be around. I am not unique, like I have tried my entire life to be, and I think that it is about time that I cam to terms with that.
70. I hate bugs. They don’t scare me; they more annoy me. I wish that they would just leave me a lone.
71. My dad always said that my bothers “wouldn’t pick on you unless they loved you”. I still have a hard time believing that. Why would you pick on someone you loved?
72. I love watching Seth wrestle and play with his little brothers and sisters. It makes him so happy, and therefore, makes me happy too.
73. I hate pets. I think that they smell, and take too much work.
74. I get allergies in Missouri….I’ve never had them in Utah or Idaho, but in Missouri, I do. It stinks.
75. I don’t like crowds.
76. I don’t like silence…it makes me nervous.
77. I love rainbows, and stars, and clouds (the big white puffy ones), and green grass, and the sun.
78. Tulips are my favorite flower. Pinks one, preferably.
79. I love the mountains, and really miss them. There is something safe about having mountains close by. When we go to Utah this summer, I’ll have to drive up the canyon, and just enjoy the mountains!!
80. I love new clothes! I love new socks, shirts, jeans, shoes….It doesn’t really matter!
81. I love the rain!! Missouri rain is much better than Utah rain, but Utah rain does have its perks too. I like the thunder and the lightning too, but they can scare me…..I’m not used to having my house shake when it’s thundering outside.
82. I love to eat out! I mean, who doesn’t? Of course, I can’t eat out ALL the time, but I still love it.
83. I love going on walks with Seth. Nice and slow. Hand in hand.
84. I love watching people. I am much more an observer than anything else. I like to watch people do things, and I LOVE watching facial expressions.
85. I am excited to go to Arches this year with Seth!
86. I hiked the Grand Canyon (silly in-laws) in one day. (12 hours!) All the way down, and all the way back up again. It hurt! and while I complain about it, it was great! I am so glad that I did it.
87. I am scared of dogs. I don’t like them, and they don’t like me. I wish that they would just leave me alone.
88. I haven’t accomplished anything today, but trying to come up with 100 random things about me! (Almost done!!)
89. I hate my job, but at least I have a job. But, I also lack the motivation to find a new one. Pathetic, I know.
90. I’m not a social bug, but I also am not a home body….what am I? I don’t like to hang out with people I don’t really know, and I am not a big fan of meeting new people. I want to be more social, but just can’t do it. But, I don’t like to just sit at home either. I don’t know what I am!
91. I like to clean house, when I am alone. But, I HATE having people watch me. It wigs me out.
92. I like to play in the snow. But, Missouri snow is NOTHING compared to a good Utah snow.
93. I like to do crafty things, but am not good at them. Everything that I try, turns out REALLY bad. I should probably give up all together.
94. I, like most girls, am a big fan of the old Pride and Prejudice. I don’t know why, I just am.
95. I think holidays are over rated. It’s just another day, what’s the big deal?
96. I do, in fact, love Mac computers. Please, Seth, don’t rub it in my face…..you told me I would, and I do.
97. I have a very sensitive nose. I can smell anything. It’s weird.
98. I love the internet! I also love being able to call my mom when I am lost in downtown St. Louis to open map quest and tell me how to get back onto the freeway so that I can go home.
99. I have been to The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserable. Too bad Wicked is sold out here in Kansas City.
100. I’ve been so exhausted that I have cried myself to sleep…..just like a little kid.
