Shirt Sizes

Okay everyone.....lots of blog action today!

Here is a sizing chart for the t's. Measure yourselves and get back to me. I'm ordering them Tuesday.

(The sizes for adults are XS-6X. Kids are XS (which is 2-4) -XL. Ryaln's will be big...but that is the smallest that there is. Sorry!)

The color is a forest green. We are going to get the final layout for the shirts done today and tomorrow. Check sizes and get back to us ASAP!!

#101......my brother's a plumber.

Star Wars according to a 3 year old

Hey Jude

Family Reunion Meals, Monday Get to know you activity, Variety Show, etc.

Hey family,

It is time to get serious about planning the little things for the reunion. I need some input from all of you about what you want to do for meals. It is our understanding that all of the Shell Claybrook family will NOT be eating breakfast and lunch with the big group. Is that correct for all of you? So, how many of you want to go in with Dad and I for the meals? Seth and Melinda said that they would do their own lunches and join with the family on breakfasts........did I get that right for you two? Ok, so if we are going to be eating together on some of our meals, you need to let us know which meals you would like to join in and it is only fair that we distribute the purchasing and preparing of those meals to those who are joining with the family to eat. This will save Mom from having to do all the work herself. Is everyone in agreement? And we think that Samuel, even though he is not married, can sign up for one of these spots and we expect Stephen and Scott to go in together for one of the meals also. So, here is a list you can sign up for meal purchasing and preparing. If anyone has a better idea on how to go about this, feel free to say so...........we are all open for suggestions. After you sign up for a meal, we will need to have a menu plan from everyone so we don't duplicate too much......so be thinking what you want to serve and let everyone know. Dad and I will take whatever no one signs up for.

Monday....we get into camp at 3 so there will be no assignments for that day.

Tuesday
Breakfast Lunch

Wednesday
Breakfast Lunch

Thursday
Breakfast Lunch

Friday
Breakfast (Since we are to check out of the place by noon, we figure
we will all be on our own for lunch on Friday)

Ok........is everyone clear on that subject? Now, onto the next one. Dad and I signed up for the Monday night get to know you activity for the whole group. I have asked all the family members to send me 3 to 5 little known, interesting facts about themselves. I have recieved the Schloegels facts.....the rest of you need to get me yours asap. If you have done the 100 Random things about yourself and want me to use a few of those, just let me know, but not all of us have done that yet, so I still need some input from the rest of you. So, either send me your 3-5 facts or tell me it is ok to choose from your 100 things about yourself.

Now, onto the next subject..........Grandpa and Grandma are in charge of the Tuesday night Variety show and they are needing a list of all those who are going to participate in that. Stephen and Scott already have chosen to do the "Who's on First" skit that Seth and Shelly did 13 years ago. They are going to do a great job!! But we need one or two more skits or talents from the rest of this family. If you have an idea of something you would like to do, get working on it. It would be nice to involve as many of our family members as want to participate......Dad and I included. But we do not want to force anyone to do anything they do not want to do. Keep in mind that this program is on the second night of the reunion, so we would only have during the day on Tuesday to practice together. Some of us will be together for a day or two at Schloegels before the reunion. Keep your ideas simple and easy to work together on. We could really have some fun with this, I think!!

Next, Seth and Melinda have got the shirts for the reunion all put together...........I have paid for everyone's shirts in advance...........(you can pay me back later) but have not been able to talk with each of you about what you want to do...........whether you want to do the shirts with everyone, or just have blank ones for yourself. You need to let Seth and Melinda know if you want to do the shirts they have designed and exactly what you want to have printed on the back. I am sure they will have some more info on that posted real soon.

I know everyone is INCREDIBLY busy, but please take some time to get all these assignments taken care of...........June 2 is coming up quicker than you can imagine!! Any questions, just give me a call........I always love hearing from my kids, ya know!!

Ok so we finally got a car!!!!! We are soo excited. Life is much MUCH easier with one. It is a 2003 Toyota Carolla. It had 90,000 miles on it. We got it for $7995 and will have it paid off by August at the latest. Its a great little car but you can tell the guy before us was a smoker. theres a couple tiny burn marks on the carpet and one tiny little rip in the passenger seat. But it runs great, and its a car. And it has AMAZING gas mileage. We mad it all the back from utah in just a forth of a tank. This sucker is amazing.

Just to clarify

Here is what the shirts look like. The guy that we are having print them, buys them from the same place the other company gets theirs from. The shirts are the same.

I will make the colors of what gets printed go with this darker green. Melinda and I will be in Utah the week before the reunion and will pick them up and bring them to the reunion for those who want them. We will be at Shelly's the Sunday before the Reunion.

Let me know if there are any more questions.

Rivers, streams, rocks, trees, grass, mountains, sand, the ocean, fields, flowers, dragonflies, ladybugs, cicadas, butterflies, hummingbirds, treefrogs, bullfrogs, toads, frogs, outdoor mice, rabbits, ....not snakes, spiders, spiderwebs, bees, bumblebees, hornets, wasps, ants, flies, horseflies, mosquitoes, ticks, chiggers, gnats, or other pesky annoying bugs.

28. I like to share my testimony, hear other people's beliefs, and listen to and have gospel discussions. I remember as a kid sitting around listening to my dad, grandfathers, and uncles discuss doctrine instead of running around and playing with my cousins.

29. I hate nursery.

30. I want to visit the ancient american ruins in Central and South America, but am too scared to go as I don't speak Spanish.

31. I would like to learn how to play the guitar...really learn how. Like how to read music for it and everything.

32. I would like to take a photography class and take awesome pictures.

33. I like to scrapbook. (published anywhere else this might get me beat up!)

34. I love to ballroom dance. I was president of the Ballroom Dance team in Boise. My favorites are the Swing, and Cha-Cha. We performed for the Idaho International Dance Festival in Boise, Pocatello, and Rexburg.

35. I always wanted to be in a musical. I almost joined the Starlight theater in Boise one summer to live up on a ranch and perform the musicals Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Annie Get Your Gun, Oklahoma.

36. I don't like stairs.

37. I love to hike and explore.

38. I like to go caving. I hate running out of batteries while caving.

39. I have been in at least 15 temples
Dallas, TX
Salt Lake, UT
Provo, UT
Okland, CA
St. Louis, MO
Portland, OR
Boise, ID
Nauvoo, IL
Idaho Falls, UT
Manti, UT
Mt. Timp, UT
Bountiful, UT
Jordan River, UT
Denver, CO
Oklahoma City, OK

40. My favorite colors recently have been Brown and Orange.

41. I love Adobe software. Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, After Effects, etc.

42. I like Corporate Design. Coming up with a look and feel of a company, the logo, stationery, signage, packaging, etc.

43. I like children's book illustration.

44. I like music. Oldies, Country, Pop, Rock, Alternative, Jazz. Depends on my mood, and I will go through phases. But if I am stressed out, there is nothing like soft smooth instrumental jazz to help me mellow out.

45. I have been to four concerts; All-4-One (Springfield), Harry Connick Jr. (Boise), Hermans Hermits (Rexburg), Michael Buble (Kansas City)

46. Would like to see Norah Jones.

47. I have been to Phantom of the Opera (St. Louis) and Les Miserables (London)

48. Would like to see Wicked.

49. I dropped out of public school after only 4 days in the 7th grade.

50. I sang horrible as a kid. And have been told that I sing like a tuba. (Is that a compliment?)

51. I still like to get toys for Christmas.

52. Uncle Scott gave me my first computer after my mission. It had a 1.5 Megabyte hard drive. Not 1.5GB, 1.5MB. I soon got a 10MB hard drive which I thought I would never fill. Then I discovered mp3.

53. The first CD I ever bought was Ace of Base: I Saw the Sign.

54. The first songs I ever remember listening for on the radio were; Kokomo by the Beach Boys and Walk Like and Egyptian by the Bangles.

55. I have a sweet tooth. Baked goods, ice cream, candy, cold cereal. Yum yum

56. Starburst and skittles. Never Black licorice or Circus Peanuts.

57. I like potato chips. All kinds, but regular unleaded plain jane are my fav.

58. My favorite Doritos, Black Pepper Jack, have been discontinued to my dismay.

59. I remember when Lucky Charms added the Purple Horseshoes to their marshmallow line up of Pink Hearts, Blue Diamonds, Orange Stars, Yellow Moons, and Green Clovers.

60. I remember when Trix only had Red Yellow and Orange pieces.

61. If you hadn't noticed, I like cold cereal. Not the boring unsugared kind, but the kind that will kick start your morning, and little children, with a sugar rush :) Lucky Charms, Marshmallow Mateys, Reese's Puffs, Trix, Fruit Loops, Fruity Pebbles, Honey Bunches of Strawberries, Honeycomb, Crunch Berries and just about any other cereal that is flavored, colored or has marshmallow bits.

62. I hate putting on my right shoe. The foot doesn't bend quite right making the whole process rather annoying.

63. I like Disney classic movies and cartoons from when Walt was alive. I don't like their recent films and hate their stupid sequels.

64. (This one really creeps my wife out) I have been on a dates with Melinda Sneddon, Melinda Sabin, Malinda Millett, Melinda Walter, and Melinda Claybrook. ...and have kissed three of the above! ...okay so Walter is my wife's maiden name, but it sure makes it more dramatic when you list it out this way.

65. I love springtime and Missouri green vegetation.

66. One of my favorite memories is of going up Fox Hollow Hill to visit Grandma and Grandpa Willis in the early summer time. This was before all the trees were cut down and before all the roads were paved. It was like going through a green tunnel with golden rays piercing through. Dry Valley will always be home. The feeling of the place where time stands still, a constant in the crazy world we are a part of. Home is a place where you feel a part of, a belonging. A place where you feel loved, secure and at peace.

67. I had a couch for a bed when I was 9-10 in Pierce City and again when I was 25 in Orem. Then when Melinda and I got married, we bought a nice bed. It is amazing what a real mattress can do to help a bad back, as the problems usually are related to the lack of a good mattress.

68. I have spray painted a bed.

69. I am directionally impaired. I get lost every single time I go somewhere new. And every time I go to the Joplin Stake Center. As a teenager my friends knew that we needed to leave early to get somewhere because I would always have to make several U-turns. My mother-in-law says I was born without enough lead in my nose. Dad can find his way out a crazy metro in no time flat. I can't find my way out of a suburb for hours! When I do find the right road, I end up going on it the wrong way for miles before I figure out that I am going in the wrong direction. This has led to the opposite of the stereotypical male perception that they will not stop and ask directions. I sometimes have to ask two or three times before I finally get there.

70. I hate driving. I carpool to work and love the every other week break I get from the commute. If there was better public transportation, I would be all over that. You combine my ability to attract accidents, lack of sense of direction, and my aversion to driving in general, poor Melinda has to play chauffeur most of the time.

71. I rode in a limo on my mission.

72. Growing up I wanted a Lamborghini or a DeLorean....now I just want a Festiva.

73. I am kidding about the Festiva.

74. I am not very good at multi-tasking. I have a hard time hearing when there are multiple conversations going on around me. I hear bits of all of them and miss crucial parts of the ones I am trying to hear.

75. I am generally pretty quiet, unless I have something to say. If I feel strongly about something I will make it known.

76. I love to quote movies.

77. I do a pretty good Sean Connery and Smeagol impression.

78. I sing along to songs I know, and make up stuff for ones that I don't!

79. I like to open things and unwrap packages. If you don't open it, I will.

80. I like unique and well designed packaging. I try to keep them, but my wife makes me throw most of that "junk" away. :)

81. My right leg has learned how to walk twice. (It still hasn't perfected the skill yet. Third times the charm? Please no.)

82. I still hate getting my hair cut.

83. I used to be a night owl and stay up regularly till 2. Not any more. Come 9:30 I am ready for bed!

85. I get distracted easy.....100 things about who?

86. I watch every Apple web broadcast that Steve Jobs gives. Since they are not posted until after the event, I usually find some blog site that someone is posting to live from the event. I am a geek I know.

87. I am writing this on a Mac.

88. I converted my wife from PC to Mac. I don't remember the last time that she touched her Dell. :)

89. I left on my mission 11 years ago. Melinda was 14. Ewww!

90. If I could go back in time and change anything in my life, I don't know that I would. If I did, it would change the outcome of who I am and my life today.

91. I want to be able to run. Run so long and hard that my muscles and lungs ache.

92. I always wanted to build my own house. I am a details person, and can't stand all the little imperfections in our house. I also thought it would be cool to build a log cabin in the mountains.

93. I wish Melinda and I could hang out with our siblings and nieces and nephews more often.

94. I am just fine with cereal every morning and sandwiches and chips for lunch everyday.

95. I don't mind doing the dishes, I just hate the time it takes. Same with eating, sleeping, etc. There are just so many other things I want to do with my time that there is NEVER enough of.

96. I want Super Mario themed ringtones, but Verizon is stupid and has their phones so locked down that even doing moderate hacks to the software won't do it. I guess I will have to void the warrantee and flash the firmware. Sigh. (the iPhone lets you do it right from iTunes!)

97. I used to have contacts, but my eyes did not like them. That was 10 years ago though, so maybe I should try it again. Or just get LASIK.

98. I have never had a cavity. And even though I brush my teeth regularly, I joke that Dentists have a deal with the toothpaste companies to put sugar in their products so that you sit all night with sugar in your mouth causing you to have to go to the Dentist who then tells you you need to brush your teeth with toothpaste. Its a conspiracy I tell you.

99. We better not have all boys, cause we only have one boy name that we agree on.

100. I hate the little hard shells of popcorn that get stuck between your gums and teeth.

84. (And you thought I forgot, or you didnt even notice.) I am a BIG tease, and make my mother and wife almost cry when I pick on them. (I tend to pick on my mother more....I don't live with her!)

Thurs April 10, 2008 Lots of Water!!

It was pretty wet around here on Thurs. We had one of those great storms all night long that thundered and lightninged and rattled the house and dumped 4 inches of water in less than 10 hours. Everywhere was flooded. Stephen had to take his GED test that morning and had to get to the car by crossing the wires and had to wend his way to Joplin and avoid all the flooding roads and nearly got washed away. A tornado that ripped through southern Oklahoma and tore away some of Dad's building and he is now heading down there to assess the damage and get fixed what he can. I hope this is the last of our drenching rain for the season, but I won't count on it. I would like to work outside and get some cleaning up done and some garden planted sometime!!

Washed Away!!

Here are some pictures of our creek and some of the property around the house. This has been the biggest flood in many years.

T-shirts

Okay everyone!! (That means EVERYONE!!!)

Your mom and I are trying to get some input about shirts for the reunion. We need to know what everyone would like to do with their personal shirts.....if you want something printed on it, we need to know. If you would like it blank, we need to know. Plus, we need to know sizes at some point too....so.....everyone tell us what you want so that we can get them ordered/printed. Seth and I are ordering ours from a printer in Utah (a family friend), and picking them up when we go out there. If you want yours professionally made, let me know and we can order them together and Seth and I will pick them up. Or, whatever you want. We just need to know.

So, get back to us.

Love ya guys!! (and gals!)

April Spotlight

Okay....I'm really behind this month. It didn't even cross my mind that it was April, and now, it's almost half over! Yikes.

So......we need a new spotlight....any suggestions? Any questions you would like answered? Let me know ASAP.

Some Random Facts About Rylan

Alright Grandpa. Here are some facts about Me. Mommy says you get what you get because I am barely 100 days old, not enough for 100 facts. But I am more than 100 days old but she says you get my drift. And she says TOUGH BEANS!

1. When mommy and daddy tell people my name they never understand...people always think my name is Ryland. What weirdos.
2. My middle name is Michael, named after my two grandpas, my uncle Seth’s and my dad’s middle name. (sorry grandpa claybrook and uncle Seth, we had to spell it a little different. The “a” won out by my daddy.)
3. My parents were going to name me Dagon Carter, and mommy even called me Dagon for a couple weeks after I was born. But I guess that’s gonna be a little brothers name someday. Lucky duck.
4. I was the fattest baby EVER! Even though I was less than 8 lbs when I was born. I quickly tipped the scales.
5. People say I look like my daddy, but mommy says it’s just because I look bald like he is.
6. I do a tremor shake like Aunt Shyanne used to do when she was little and it’s so funny! I even make myself laugh when I do it!
7. I like to push toy cars up my arms and over my head. My parents do it, and I just copy them. They are weird.
8. I love to blow raspberries, but I end up getting slobber and snot all over my nose because it tickles too much.
9. I fart A LOT! I guess I’m a boy through and through.
10. My sister calls me Rylo Beano and I love it.
11. I have the same birthday as my Aunt Sally. What a lucky girl!
12. I love to suck my thumb. And I love to hold blankets when I do. Just call my Linus. But for me, any blanket will do. If my blankets aren’t around, sometimes I’ll crawl to the dirty clothes pile and find a sock or a washcloth. Mommy doesn’t like when I do that though, I don’t know why. I think they smell fine!
13. Mommy seems to have lost my birth certificate, so I have no idea what time I was born or exactly how much I weighed. But she does know my birthday thank goodness!
14. I weigh only 5 lbs less than my older sister and she is 3 years older! Way to go Me! Football linebacker in progress.
15. I sleep on my tummy with my bum in the air. But what little kid doesn’t, right?
16. I sleep FOREVER! I am just like my mommy. Sometimes I sleep for 15 hours in a row at night. Though mommy told me to make sure you know that she doesn’t sleep that long though she sometimes wishes she could. (she says she promises she doesn’t….)
17. I have high pitched screaming contests with my older sister and I always win! (is that something I should be bragging about?)
18. I used to have 5 fat rolls around my knees. I got pinched a lot too…but I have slimmed down, I promise!
19. I am 423 days old
20. Or you could say I am 1 yr. 1 mo. And 29 days old.
21. OR you could say I am roughly 60 weeks old.
22. OR you could say I am roughly 10,152 hours old.
23. OR you could say I am roughly 609,120 minutes old.
24. OR you could also say I am roughly 36,547,200 seconds old. I say roughly b/c again, mom lost my birth certificate.
25. I love to eat shoes. I have a shoe fetish. Anyone that knows me well knows this. Mommy says please put your shoes away when I am around.
26. I scream bloody murder when mommy lays me down in the bathtub. A cup of water poured on my head please.
27. I LOVE to throw things away! Just ask my Aunt Sally and Uncle Jake! I threw away a measuring cup and one of their pens and several other undisclosed items that will forever remain unknown. I love to throw away my shoes too and any other toy I carry near the garbage. If I am around, be prepared to go dumpster diving!
28. I love pasta! Pasta and cheese. No wonder I’m fat. Ooh, and peanut butter too. I’m definitely a Claybrook.
29. I still have only 4 teeth. This fact aggravates mommy sometimes. She thinks it takes too much time to cut my food up really small.
30. I love playing with my sisters kitchen set and food. It really does taste good! Maybe I will be like my daddy and love to cook someday.
31. I will not willingly leave our back patio and venture into the grass/weeds/dirt. Though I will play with all of the above when Kadence brings me some. Daddy says “attaboy” when I eat it though. Mommy just rolls her eyes.
32. I love to bounce and bob my head when music is on. Sometimes just bob my head. I am cool like that.
33. I have blue eyes.
34. I have ten fingers.
35. I have ten toes.
36. I have blonde hair.
37. I wear size 18 month clothes and going on size 2T.
38. I wear size 6 shoe. Kadence wears size 8. I’m catching up!
39. I love to share. Then take things back.
40. I have learned that if you pull your sisters hair and scream, then you usually get what you want! But she’s such a baby and has to tell on me all the time…wimp.
41. I love medicine.
42. I have Obsessive compulsive disorder when it comes to dishcloths. If they are hanging up on the fridge, stove or anywhere else in the kitchen they MUST COME DOWN!
43. I have yet to say a word other than “cheese”.
44. I know when someone says “say cheese” I am supposed to smile. I do love cheese.
45. I have 2 pairs of shoes.
46. I have too many blankets, but I use every one of them.
47. I am currently sick and keeping Kleenex in business.
48. I love books. I love to rip them too. It’s much more fun than reading. But I do look at them a lot too.
49. I love watching Daddy play Battlefield 1942 on the computer. It calms me down.
50. Mommy says I’ve said enough about me to satisfy anyone’s curiosity. Whatever that means. I think it means I have to stop before her head explodes.

I tag Uncle Seth. Oh, and mommy says you’re not allowed to tag Kadence because she’s had enough of making a lot out of nothing. I’m not sure what that means either, but you can’t tag Kady.

Exna on the Ogbla

Okay. First of all. DAD! SOO not funny. This was never meant for the GRANDKIDS! Especially ones that can't talk. Sheesh. And second of all, do you realize that IIIIIII have to write Adam's as well? I think both you and Melinda need to re-tag someone else! Seth still needs to do his, and Shyanne. And Jake. And Stephen. And MOM. And ADAM is late on his...and SCOTT. COME ON! I get Adam and Rylan!?!? Tripple duty for me is not fair. I'm gonna have to write up Adam's and let him approve of it b/c there is no way he will come up with any. Whoever thought of this idea was NOT THINKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am bushed just thinking about it. I call no fair.
